At the Faculty of Science, a unique, interdisciplinary Master’s programme is being offered that will educate a new generation of scientific researchers and academic professionals who are excited to work at the frontier of physics, computer science and mathematics. MSc Quantum Computer Science is a two-year programme that equips students with advanced knowledge, skills, and insight in quantum information processing. Graduates will be able to actively contribute to the understanding of the position, role, and responsibility of quantum technologies in science and society.
The Junior Teacher supports the delivery of QuCS programme courses under the guidance of course coordinators. This role offers an excellent entry point into academic teaching, making it particularly well-suited for candidates seeking their first position in higher education.

As a Junior Teacher, you will help in the preparation and organisation of seminars, computer labs, and projects for a range of courses in our programme. This will be done in consultation with the course coordinators who are responsible for the theoretical and course pedagogical implementation of a course. The tasks of a Junior Teacher consist of:
You will contribute to multiple courses concurrently. The programme director will consult with you on course assignments, considering both your interests and areas of expertise, as well as the specific needs of the programme.
Additionally, it would be a huge asset if you have prior experience as a teaching assistant.
We offer an employment contract for 4 years (with a 2-month probation period) for 38 hours per week, preferably starting on August 1, 2026.
The gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and dependent on relevant experience, ranges between €3,546 to €5,538 (scale 10) .This does not include 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% year-end allowance. The UFO profile Docent 4 is applicable. A favourable tax agreement, the ‘30% ruling’, may apply to non-Dutch applicants. The Collective Labour Agreement of Universities of the Netherlands is applicable.

During your four-year contract, you will follow training modules together with other Junior Teachers; this will include the opportunity to obtain the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ/BKO). Together with your supervisor, you will draw up a Personal Development Plan (Persoonlijk Ontwikkelplan, POP) detailing the specifics of your customised programme.
