With a 38-hour workweek, you are entitled to 232 vacation hours per year. We also offer the ‘Terms of Employment Menu,' which allows you to obtain extra vacation hours and adjust your terms of employment. We also have provisions for paid and unpaid parental leave, partner leave, childcare, and extra leave days for volunteer activities that benefit society at large. 

Career development and growth

The UvA offers employees various development opportunities such as internal and external training, exploratory internships in other departments, and sabbaticals. Your supervisor or personnel advisor will be happy to support you in this. You can get study cost reimbursement and possible study leave for courses that enhance your career prospects. You are also entitled to development days for activities like attending conferences, courses, or training.

Attractive Labour Agreement and employment conditions

UvA employees are subject to the conditions of the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities, supplemented with our own regulations such as study facilities, financial compensation and leave options. You will be assigned a job profile with salary scales linked to levels, depending on your education, knowledge, and experience. In addition to your salary, you will receive an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus annually. Additionally, you will build up a pension with ABP.
