We are looking for a Lecturer who will support group classes (project seminars and computer lab sessions), grade assignments and supervise teaching assistants (TAs) and coach Master thesis students. The position will primarily serve the Information Studies (Data Science, HCI) program with potential support for other programs. These programs are part of the Graduate School of Informatics of the Faculty of Science. You will be part of the Digital Interaction Lab and embedded in the Informatics Institute. 

As a Lecturer, you will help in the preparation and organisation of seminars, computer labs, and projects for a range of (core) courses in our program. This will be done in consultation with the course coordinators.

Tasks and responsibilities: 

• preparing and adapting course material for project groups and computer lab sessions;
• coaching and instructing TAs;
• supervision of project groups;
• grading and/or providing feedback on weekly assignments;
• giving lectures
• supporting the Master thesis process (organisation as well as supervision);
• organizing extracurricular activities (if applicable).

Your experience and profile 

• An MSc in computer science or related field with a preference for a PhD
• A motivational teacher, with an encouraging teaching style;
• Teaching experience and course administration experience.
• Good organizational and planning skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Pro-active and flexible attitude.
• Ability to accept collegiate responsibilities and act accordingly.
• Professional command of English and the willingness to learn Dutch
• Possession of the University Teaching Qualification (BKO), or the willingness to obtain this within two years after the start of the employment.

We offer a temporary employment contract for 38 hours per week for a period of 12 months with a probationary period of two months. The preferred starting date is as soon as possible. A permanent contract follows if we assess your performance positive.

The gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and dependent on relevant experience, ranges between € 4,925 to € 6,682 (scale 11). This does not include 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% year-end allowance. The UFO profile Docent 3 is applicable. A favourable tax agreement, the ‘30% ruling’, may apply to non-Dutch applicants. The Collective Labour Agreement of Universities of the Netherlands is applicable.
