The successful candidate will contribute to the research project “Future Longevity Inequalities” – a joint research project by RCLR and Prof Fanny Janssen of the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI). We are looking for talented and motivated researchers interested in modelling and projecting mortality by educational level, thereby distinguishing lifestyle-attributable mortality and remaining non-lifestyle-attributable mortality.
The successful candidates will be part of a team of researchers at the Research Centre for Longevity Risk. The centre is a joint initiative of the Amsterdam School of Economics and Nationale-Nederlanden and based at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Amsterdam. This specific research project is a joint project of RCLR with Prof Fanny Janssen of the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI). The focus of our research is on developments in survival rates and life expectancy, how these developments are affected by socio-economic factors, and how an increasing life span affects the economy and wider society. To strengthen our research on socio-economic differences, we are looking for a new team member who can contribute to the research project “Future Longevity Inequalities”. Your research will include the extension of current modelling and projecting techniques to separately forecast lifestyle-attributable and non-lifestyle attributable mortality by educational level, and to coherently forecast national life expectancy while accounting for future socio-economic longevity inequalities. Research experience and expertise in modelling and forecasting aggregate population-level data in the field of health/mortality will be highly appreciated but are not a requirement. Only candidates with a strong background in Actuarial Science, Econometrics, Demography, Population Studies, Statistics, (Applied) Mathematics or related fields are encouraged to apply.
Details about the research centre can be found at rclr.nl. Details about this specific research project can be found at futurelongevitybyeducation.com.
