The NWO-VIDI project “Fairness in Data-Driven Medical Technologies: Solidifying Regulatory Oversight Based on a Multidimensional Conception of Fairness”, led by dr. Mahsa Shabani, is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated researcher with a completed PhD to play a leading role in our research project, support and co-supervise other subprojects, and help build partnerships and projects. The postdoc position is part of the NWO-VIDI project “Fairness in Data-Driven Medical Technologies: Solidifying Regulatory Oversight Based on a Multidimensional Conception of Fairness”, complementing the PI (Mahsa Shabani) and a PhD candidate. The project runs from 2026 to 2031. The main aim of the overall project is to develop a comprehensive framework for fairness in medical AI and genomics, integrating ethical, legal, and social perspectives. By engaging patients, clinicians, and policymakers, the project aims to strengthen regulatory oversight and propose policy solutions that foster fair and responsible innovation. The postdoc will be part of the Law Center for Health and Life and embedded in the department of Public Law at the Amsterdam Law School.

In addition, you have:
The position is for 0.9 fte. Depending on the disciplinary expertise of the candidate, options can be explored (but not guaranteed) for an additional 0,1 teaching time at one of the UvA Faculties. The position is offered for 1 years with the option (by excellent performance) to extend this by 3 years.
The gross full-time monthly salary will be in accordance with the salary scales for (post-doc) Researchers at Dutch universities, scale 11 (Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities) ranging from €4.728 to €6.433 gross per month (full-time equivalent). Secondary benefits at Dutch universities are attractive and include 8% holiday pay and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus[MS2] .
