What are you going to do

The post doc will examine the relationship between identity work and thriving in minority and marginalized emerging adults in the workplace.
You will:

  • Synthesize insights from multiple literatures to develop an integrated understanding of the topic.
  • Use both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Be motivated to adopt inclusive, participatory approaches that actively involve marginalized emerging adults in the research process.
  • Present research findings at project meetings, academic conferences, and in international peer-reviewed journals.
  • Teach in Work and Organizational Psychology (15%).

The postdoctoral researcher will join a supportive and engaging research environment within the Work and Organizational Psychology group at the University of Amsterdam. Under the supervision of Dr. Byron G. Adams, together with Dr. Barbara Nevicka, and Prof. Dr. Astrid Homan. The position offers an excellent platform for academic growth and interdisciplinary collaboration, including engagement with ongoing projects and access to mentoring and development opportunities.

What do you have to offer

You should be passionate about research, have a proven interest in the topic and methodology, and either experience or a keen interest in teaching.
Your experience and profile:

  • A (near) completed PhD in Psychology, Developmental Science or a closely related field;
  • Advanced (qualitative and quantitative) research skills;
  • A proven track record of publishing in high-quality international refereed journals;
  • Excellent English language skills, proficiency in Dutch is welcome;
  • The ability, willingness, and commitment to do autonomous work in a team;
  • Experience in teaching psychology courses and supervising bachelor’s and master’s theses;
  • Access to, or experience working with, minority and/or marginalized emerging adult groups is preferred but not required.

The appointment concerns temporary employment of 38 hours per week (1.0 fte) for a period of 2.5 years (85% research, 15% teaching). The intended starting date is as soon as possible after 1 January, 2026.
Based on a full-time appointment (1.0 fte), the gross monthly salary will be between 4.728 and 5.705 euros (scale 11, depending on qualifications and experience, based on the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
