You will be working on a sub-project of a larger project titled Non-standard Work: the Role of the EU and the Experiences and Interests of the Workers, funded by Instituut Gak, with Prof. Dr. Maarten Keune as project leader. This position offers a unique opportunity to delve into the motives the EU has to play a role in strengthening the position of non-standard, precarious workers, and to evaluate how successful this role is. You will do research on two questions. One concerns the ways in which recent EU social and employment regulation has been legitimized, focusing on the European Pillar of Social Rights and a series of regulations stemming therefrom. The other concerns the effects of these EU regulations on social and employment regulations and outcomes in the Netherlands. The work will largely be based on interviews and document analysis.
