As a Grant Advisor at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FMG), you will join the Collaborative Research Support Team (FMG-CORE), a small and fun team of currently two other Grant Advisors and two Project Managers. Embedded in the team, you will play a key role in advising and supporting researchers with EU collaborative research proposals. You will identify promising funding opportunities, match them with researchers across disciplines, and guide researchers in developing and coordinating competitive proposals. Your expertise in EU funding, particularly Horizon Europe, will be crucial in helping research teams articulate their ideas, structure their proposals, and maximize their impact, by providing advice on strategy, work organization, planning, guidelines and budgets. This involves collaborating closely with (international) partners from academia and beyond, liaising with the European Commission and working with a variety of internal and external experts on topics such as research ethics, data management, open access publishing, or communication.
Beyond proposal development, you will play an active role in shaping strategic initiatives, such as contributing to EU consultation processes, organizing workshops, and raising awareness of funding opportunities. You will have the chance to develop specialized expertise in a relevant area. Additionally, you may take on a project management role - facilitating project startup, and ensuring its successful implementation.
What are your daily tasks
Identify EU funding opportunities for coordinating interdisciplinary research consortia and match them with researchers across the FMG disciplines (covering the social sciences, psychology, communication sciences and pedagogical sciences);.
Coordinate consortia-building efforts and facilitate collaboration among partners;.
Guide and support proposal development, ensuring high-quality, competitive applications;.
Advise on strategy, budgeting, and compliance for research funding applications;.
Organize workshops and awareness events to enhance funding knowledge and engagement;.
Actively monitor EU developments and represent the FMG interest in EU consultation processes (i.e. through active participation in RVO Sounding boards, etc.).
You are familiar with the European framework programme and have multiple years of relevant work experience in the field of research funding support for collaborative projects;
You have a collaborative and service-oriented attitude and can easily connect with scientists and grant agencies, as well as with business and societal partners;
You have a pro-active, solution-oriented approach and content-oriented way of working and know what motivates researchers;
You have excellent organizational capabilities and can control several projects and/or applications at the same time;
You are prepared to work flexibly, especially around strict deadlines;
You can relate to academic mindset and are passionate about social and behavioral sciences;
You have excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and (preferably) good command of Dutch.
We offer an exciting position in the Project Office of the FMG for 32 to 38 hours per week. Initially you will receive a one-year contract (with a probationary period of two months). After a year, upon positive evaluation and satisfactory performance, the appointment can be converted into an appointment with a permanent contract. Considerations of a financial and/or organisational nature may constitute grounds for not continuing the position.
The gross monthly salary will range from € 4,537,- up to a maximum of € 7,056,- (salary scale 11 or 12, Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU) for a full-time appointment (38 hours per week) and will be based on qualifications, expertise and relevant experience. For this position the University Job Classification System Medewerker kennisvalorisatie 3 or 2 applies. We also offer an annual holiday allowance of 8%, an annual end-of-year bonus of 8,3%, and an interesting set of fringe benefits (also for personal development and further professionalization).
