All first-year students will be enrolled in Principles of Economics and Business 1 and Principles of Economics and Business 2. During this course students will obtain an overview and comprehensive knowledge of the main themes and subjects in economics and business. The course will focus on the theoretical concepts,  their intellectual history and meaning, and their importance for understanding real phenomena in society. Moreover, a foundation will be laid for students to independently carry out academic research and relate their findings to the existing academic literature. This includes learning how to search for academic literature and how to read and evaluate it based on academic economic and/or business administration articles. During the course the student-assistant has to discuss literature related to the topic of that particular week. At the end of the first period the students will write an assignment which  will be graded by the student-assistant. In the third period student-assistants will supervise students during the writing process of the first academic paper they have to write.

This is what you will be doing

Your main task is to teach every week three groups of first-year students.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Teach three group of approximately 15-20 students

  • Prepare classes and grade assignments

  • Attend the weekly preparatory meeting on Friday

This is what we ask of you

  • You are a third-year or master  student at the Faculty of Economics & Business (candidates who graduated or hold a PhD are NOT eligible for this position);

  • You are fluent in either Dutch or English (students who are fluent in both languages are preferred);

  • People can rely on you, and you are able to be role model for others;

  • You are empathic and are interested in others;

  • You think it is challenging and fun to teach others;

  • You have a positive mind-set: you believe that everyone has the potential to develop;

  • You are able to reflect on your own strength and weaknesses, and you can deal with feedback;

  • You have a flexible schedule and sufficient space to teach three groups. Additionally you are able to attend the weekly meetings on Friday;

  • You are available from 25 August 2025.

This is what we offer you

The contract is via StudiJob from 24 August 2025 until 24 October 2025 and from 5 January 2025 until 6 February 2026. The gross monthly salary based on full-time employment (38 hours per week) ranges from €2,925 up to a maximum of €2,981 (salary scale student-assistant). This is exclusive 8% holiday allowance. The starting salary will be based on number of ECTS gained as a student.
