This is what you will be doing

As an Assistant Professor in Digital Marketing, you will develop and execute an independent research agenda and contribute to the department’s research profile through publications, conference presentations, and collaboration. You will also teach and help develop courses in our bachelor’s, master’s, and executive education programmes, supervise theses, and mentor students.

 Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and publish high-quality research in Digital Marketing.
  • Present work at leading international conferences and engage in scholarly networks.
  • Initiate and contribute to grant proposals and research collaborations (academic and, where relevant, industry).
  • Design and teach Digital Marketing courses in bachelor’s, master’s, and executive education programmes.
  • Supervise bachelor’s and master’s thesis projects; (co-)supervise PhD candidates where applicable.
  • Engage in departmental and faculty service and events

This is what we ask of you

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a PhD (or is close to completion) in marketing or a related discipline.
  • Has a strong research track record or clear potential, evidenced by publications and/or a high-quality pipeline that targets top-tier journals.
  • Has expertise in Digital Marketing and a rigorous methodological toolkit (for example experiments, quantitative modelling, field data, or digital trace data).
  • Has demonstrated affinity for teaching and mentoring at undergraduate and/or graduate level (e.g., teaching evaluations, teaching experience, or curriculum development).
  • Communicates effectively in English; ability to teach in Dutch is an advantage, or willingness to develop Dutch-language teaching capability where relevant.
  • Works well in an international, collaborative team environment.

This is what we offer you

We offer full-time  employment for the period of one year with a probationary period of two months, preferably starting 1 September 2026. If proven suitable, an extension or permanent employment is possible. The UFO Universitair docent applies to this position. This position is classified in scale 11. This means a gross monthly salary between € 4,728 and € 6,433 for full-time employment (38 hours per week) excluding holiday allowance (8%) and year-end bonus (8.3%). The salary scale depends on competencies and work experience.

The collective bargaining agreement of Dutch universities applies. The UvA has an extensive package of fringe benefits, including:

  • 29 days' holiday with full employment & extra holidays between Christmas and the New Year;
  • Excellent work (from home) facilities;
  • reimbursement of commuting expenses;
  • pension accrual with ABP;
  • In addition, the UvA offers excellent study and development opportunities and encourages employees to continue their professional development;
  • You may participate in the open UvA lectures with which you can earn up to 30 credits per year.
