The University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Bosch Group has opened a new collaborative research lab, Delta Lab 2. We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in machine learning to be a part of this collaboration. Research topics include include generative models (ex: flows, conditional generation, applications to AI4Science) and/or uncertainty quantification (ex: conformal prediction, approximate inference). Delta Lab 2 is embedded within the Amsterdam Machine Learning Lab (AMLab) and the Computer Vision Lab (CV), two research groups within the UvA Informatics Institute.

The Faculty of Science (FNWI) has a student body of around 8,000, as well as 1,800 members of staff working in education, research or support services. Researchers and students at the Faculty of Science are fascinated by every aspect of how the world works, be it elementary particles, the birth of the universe or the functioning of the brain.
The mission of the Informatics Institute (IvI) is to perform curiosity-driven and use-inspired fundamental research in Computer Science. The main research themes are Artificial Intelligence, Computational Science and Systems and Network Engineering. Our research involves complex information systems at large, with a focus on collaborative, data driven, computational and intelligent systems, all with a strong interactive component.
The mission of the UvA-Bosch Delta Lab (Deep Learning Technologies Amsterdam) is to perform world class research in machine learning and computer vision. Researchers at UvA collaborate with Bosch researchers on topics including generative models, causal learning, geometric deep learning, uncertainty quantification in deep learning, human-in-the-loop methods, outlier detection, scene reconstruction, image decomposition, and semantic segmentation.
Delta Lab 2 – the follow-up to the successful collaboration Delta Lab 1 – focuses on the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning for applications in computer vision, generative models, and causal learning. Delta Lab 2 will form part of ICAI, the national Innovation Center for AI, headquartered on the Amsterdam Science Park. The lab is headed by the UvA’s Dr Jan-Willem van de Meent and Prof Theo Gevers. Dr Christian A. Naesseth is the daily lab manager.
