We are looking for a student assistant who will work closely together with our Communications Officer and Project Manager on communication support and project tasks. WIQD (pronounced “wicked”) stands for We in Quantum Development, an initiative hosted by the University of Amsterdam. We are a professional network within the quantum ecosystem, encompassing industry, academia, and policy. Our mission is to address the underrepresentation of diverse groups in the quantum ecosystem by fostering an inclusive and supportive community. We achieve this through organizing events such as workshops focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and a mentoring programme that connects individuals across different stages of their careers in quantum development.

This is what you will do

WIQD is looking for a proactive student assistant with a passion for social media, content creation, and communication. You will work closely with our Communication Officer (Maja Lešković) and you will support the WIQD Project Manager (Florence Mooser).

Tasks and responsibilities: 

  • help manage our communication channels;
  • create engaging content (copy, visuals, newsletters, blog posts);
  • monitor social media analytics to improve our strategies and audience engagement;
  • event preparation (e.g., our fall industry event in November and mentoring workshops) including logistics, registration tracking, quotes, and participant/partner communication;
  • help keep shared folders organized;
  • assist with post-event feedback collection and reporting.

What we ask of you

You are organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively. Interest in social justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, or STEM is a plus. Experience with Canva, WordPress, and Excel is preferred. In this role we expect you to work from the office (University of Amsterdam, Faculty of Science, Institute of Physics) to get acquainted with the job. Later on, it’s possible to carry out your work from home as well.

Your experience and profile:

  • Minimal 3rd year Bachelor or MSc student;
  • Interest in social justice, diversity, equity inclusion, or STEM is a plus;
  • Professional command of English

It’s a preference if you additionally have experience with Canva, WordPress, and Excel.

This is what we offer you

We offer a temporary employment contract for 16 hours per week. The preferred starting date is as soon as possible and the position is until 13 March 2026. The gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and dependent on relevant experience ranges between €3.084 - €3.141 (Scale SA) depending on whether you are a pursuing a bachelor or master degree at this time. This does not include 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% year-end allowance. The UFO profile Student-Assistant OBP (Scale SA)  is applicable. A favourable tax agreement, the ‘30% ruling’, may apply to non-Dutch applicants. The Collective Labour Agreement of Universities of the Netherlands is applicable. Preferred working days: Tuesday and Wednesday
